INSTA: @thegoodofthehive WEBSITE: www.thegoodofthehive.com Matt Willey, founder and artist of The Good of the Hive, has set himself on the mission to paint 50,000 bees - the number necessary for a healthy, thriving hive - in murals around the world.
It’s Matt’s mission to ignight radical curiosity for planetary health issues through art and storytelling. The bee and her hive are the symbols he currently uses, but at the essence it is about activating and celebrating the power in human connection.
“I imagine a world filled with people that see the beauty and connectedness of all things, and act accordingly. A bee woke me up to that truth. I am painting what she showed me.” - Matt Willey.
We reached out to Matt a few months ago after the discovery of his influential, radical movement and discussed how we could work together in creating a collection of apparel that encompasses his ambitions.
Matt decided on three key designs that showcase his work, taking it from mural to apparel. This collection brings light to the ever struggling species, that we are challenging so much through our environmental behaviours.
There needs to be a collective understanding that we are putting such a crucial species under threat, and we actively need to have some responsibility and consciousness in how we can help our bees thrive, not deprive.
