FOUNDED IN LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND, LAUNCHED OCTOBER 2020 KOSU! IS A COMMUNITY-LED, ACTIVISM-DRIVEN, SUSTAINABLE STREETWEAR BRAND THAT BELIEVES CULTURE, FASHION AND CREATIVITY ARE INTRINSIC TO THE FUTURE OF SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE.
TO MAKE ARTISTIC ACTIVISM MORE IMPACTFUL WE HAVE MADE IT OUR MISSION TO BUILD AN INTERNATIONAL NETWORK OF CREATIVES TO PRODUCE AN ONGOING APPAREL COLLECTION THAT ENCOMPASSES THE CREATIVE VOICE OF PROTEST, OPTIMISM AND SOLIDARITY, IN A WORLD SEEMINGLY INFECTED WITH INEQUALITY, UNCERTAINTY AND DIVIDE.
CREATIVES FROM EVERY WALK OF LIFE, FROM INDUSTRY LEADERS, TO AWARD WINNERS, RIGHT THROUGH TO INDEPENDENT DESIGNERS AND ARTISTS. WE SPLIT THE PROFIT FROM EACH COLLECTION WITH THE ARTIST, 50/50. THE ARTIST THEN CONTRIBUTES A MINIMUM OF 10% TO A SELECTED CHARITY. WE THEN CONTRIBUTE A MINIMUM 10% OF OUR SHARE TO THE KOSU FOUNDATION FUND.
A savings fund with plans to facilitate innovative, creative projects around the world, to implement the developmental and social groundwork to help educate the masses on the insane impact the fashion industry is having on our planet.
WE CREATE MADE-TO-ORDER CONTEMPORARY APPAREL WITH RESPECT FOR BOTH PEOPLE AND THE PLANET. 100% ORGANIC & RECYCLED MATERIAL.S. 100% VEGAN APPROVED
Becoming a conscious consumer holds similar connotations to becoming vegan, there are drastic changes that need to take place, plus essential research and knowledge to help guide a purchase that ultimately has minimal effect on the planet. It’s not a simple move by any means but it’s necessary in giving mother nature a hand in the enormous amount of reparation needed to get this planet back on track.
The fashion industry alone is responsible for 10% of humanity’s carbon emissions. That’s more than international airlines and maritime shipping, combined. It is also responsible for 20% of all industrial water pollution worldwide. Overall, the jumped-up demand for fast fashion delivered by the likes of Zara, Boohoo and H&M (who are basically non transparent in their supply chain or manufacturers) is burying the environment for profit.
Unlike oil, this is an industry we can all affect, almost instantly. We want to educate people on the impact of the fashion industry and to help them become conscious consumers rather than being manipulated into diving onto the fast fashion band wagon. Temporary trends enforced by fast fashion brands are part of our global downfall. We want to help initiate the diversion into quality over quantity. We want to provide top quality products, designed by the best independent artists. We can still be individuals, but it does not need to literally, cost the earth.
We must act now to build a new, human economy that values what truly matters to society.
